Courses & Taster Sessions

The main event

Beginners wheel-throwing course

Six weeks from clay to fired piece

Our beginners course takes you from centre-ing your first handful of clay to holding a finished, kiln-fired piece in your hands. Small groups of up to twelve students mean you get proper attention from your instructor — no standing at the back, watching.

Evening and weekend slots are available most weeks. New terms start in January, April and September, so there's always a course coming up.

Everything is included

No hidden costs, no equipment to buy. Your course fee covers all the clay you use, access to our wheels and studio tools, glazing materials, and kiln firing of your finished pieces. Just turn up with clean hands and an open mind.

No prior experience needed — we start from the very beginning.

What's in the box

All clay used

Every gram of clay you throw — starting pieces, practice throws, and your final work — is part of your course fee.

Wheels & tools

Unrestricted access to our wheels during class, plus every hand tool, sponge, wire and trimming tool you'll need.

Glazing & firing

Once your pieces are bone-dry, we glaze them together in class, then fire them in our kiln. You pick them up ready to use or display.

Small-group teaching

Maximum twelve per course. Your instructor knows your name, sees what you're working on, and gives feedback that sticks.
One-off sessions

Taster sessions for birthdays & groups

Two hours at the wheel

A taster session is a two- to two-and-a-half-hour private booking for your group — birthdays, hen and stag celebrations, or a work team looking for something different. Up to ten people per session.

No experience necessary. Everyone gets hands-on time at a wheel, learns the basics, and throws something they're genuinely proud of.

You take home a piece

We glaze your pieces during the session and fire them in our kiln. Once they're ready, we get in touch — you can collect them or arrange to have them sent.

Check our Timetable for Saturday slots, or get in touch to arrange a date that works for you.

What's next

After your beginners course

Keep developing

Join another six-week term to go deeper — larger pieces, more ambitious forms, experimenting with surface and decoration. Each term builds on the last.

Move to studio membership

Once you're confident working independently, studio membership gives you unlimited access to our wheels and clay whenever we're open — no class structure, no timetable, just you and your work.
